Internet Business Tip: Make Millions by Being Second To the Punch

Thursday, September 6, 2007

Chances are, you don’t have the resources to “break news” or to be the go to site for the latest and hottest Headlines. To tell you the truth, the sites that break the news are so great at it that they pretty much have the market saturated. Here is how you can make millions by being second to the punch.

Johnny come lately:
9 times out of 10 when somebody says a product or a headline is going to be hot, it is. But, things cool down very quickly. Here is an example:

Back in the late 1990’s Beanie Babies were a very hot commodity. It was possible to buy these stuffed animals for a few dollars and resell them for a few hundred. Every store and flea market started to stock them. Beanie Babies were so popular, there would be lines as long as 100 people waiting for the new shipment to arrive.

This “business opportunity” lasted a few months and was really sizzling. Once the public caught on to how profitable the Beanie Babies were everybody started to buy them and stock up on them. Unfortunately for these late-comers, once they started stocking up on Beanies, nobody was buying them any more. Instead of profiting, 1,000’s of people were stuck with over-priced stocking stuffers.

Important fact:
Once somebody tells you how profitable a “business opportunity” is…. it’s normally too late for you.

This is especially true with Infomercials.

Once somebody does an infomercial on a “business opportunity” and tells you how much you can make; you know that those people aren’t making any more money from that opportunity. If they were, they wouldn’t be sharing their secrets.

How to catch lightning in a bottle:
Nobody really knows what’s going to catch on, but, trends in the past normally dictate the future.

For example:
When the Sony PlayStation 3 came out this December, people waited in line over night. They knew there was going to be a shortage, and, if they got the PlayStations, they would be able to resell them for over double the price.

These people were correct.

How did they know? Because people before them did exactly the same thing when the X Box came out the year earlier.

How to capitalize on being second:
The second you hear of a new headline or know something is about to happen, create a blog or website on it. Make sure and advertise this site before too much media hype has happened. The search engines will pick you up and put you at the top.

Now, once the headline becomes a big draw, you already have your site in a good position. You readied yourself for the big event.

Be the first to be second:
To carry through with what I mentioned above, I am going to give an example.

During the auditions of the second season of American Idol, a young man by the name of Clay Aiken stuck out because of his “nerdiness” and voice. I had a strong feeling he was going to become popular so I created a “vote for Clay Aiken site”. It had a message board and pictures. Some of his friends from North Carolina saw our site and asked our help to promote him.

Because we were the first website to promote Clay, it ranked #1 for almost an entire year in Google. Because our site was at the top, we were able to make an Amazon link to his CD, and thousands of people bought through our Amazon affiliate link.

We weren’t the first person to introduce Clay Aiken. American Idol did that for us. But, we were second.

You never know what’s going to catch on. So, find things that interest you and be the place to go right after somebody scoops something.

Now! Start making millions.

Jim Fleck - Internet Marketer - Review
When I had the opportunity to first listen to Jim Fleck I was pretty impressed.
Jim captivated me because he was someone who came from a corporate background. But he had not done things the easy way. He had learnt his skills through hard knocks. From what he says he has probably found more ways not to do things than the two of us, you and I, could think up.
But he hasnt always done things tough. He has even worked in the corporate world working for companies like Boise Cascade.
Even so, he has lived life at both ends of the extremes. He showed us a photo of the apartment he lived in when times where tough. I was a little surprised as personally I would not send a cockroach to live there. It was a tiny 100 square foot apartment that was in the basement of a building that should have been condemned.
Jeff had done a deal with his landlord so he and his flat mate did not need to pay the utilities. However each night they stole cable from the neighbors so they could watch HBO.
So how did things turn around for him? He managed to come across Jeff Paul and his magic formula.
Since learning Jeff Paul's formula he has sold millions of dollars worth of product over the internet. Jim has managed to make over 4 million dollars in less than 7 months. He has over 62 websites that are ranked in the search engines and has even had one campaign that he put together in 2 hrs make him over $600,000USD.
If you wonder why he doesn't do more, well it is a bit like Paul McCartney. Sell Paul, even though he has made millions from the Beatles and still makes loads via various royalties, still manages to make albums. He does it because it takes him hardly any time at all. Paul McCartney can write an album and produce it in just a couple of days. And Jeff Paul is just like him.
He leverages his time and does what he loves. He puts together packages to sell in just a couple of days and then continues to rake in the money whilst on the golf course or spending time with his family. In January 2006 he managed to put together a campaign that netted 1.4 million dollars.
Learning from Jim Fleck will do you well. He is one of the original marketing gurus of the internet. He was marketing online before bulletin boards - something some of you may not even know of. He knows what works and what doesn't because he has tried them all.

FAQs in Choosing a Content Management System (CMS)
Content management system remains to be a big question mark to some web developers and web marketers. They are missing out an important factor in website development by being naïve to CMS. To help webmasters and web developers get the benefit of CMS, here are some of the frequently asked questions about CMS and their answers:
What is CMS?
CMS stands for Content Management System. This is a system that helps in maintaining and expanding website. It aims to make content and structure expansion easier.
What does CMS create?
Content management system stores data in a database. It makes pages only when a site visitor asks or searches for it. This is useful especially for websites that constantly updates their information. So when a site visitor asks for a specific page, the system will display the page being searched for. Some systems cache every new page and create a new one only when some changes are made.
Is CMS useful in publishing site on different platforms?
Content management system is very useful in ensuring your website appears at its best in different platforms. CMS allows you to create different templates that will be suitable to different platforms. This can be done without changing anything with the content.
Is CMS being used now?
There are several large organizations that are already using content management system. Most websites prefer to use CMS because of its promising features and benefits in terms of web content and structure maintenance and expansion.
What is the cost of CMS?
The cost varies depending on the supplier. Some may charge a large amount but includes training on its usage. Others are cheap as well. But be careful in choosing low fixed rate since most of the time the supplier doesn’t give extra technical support.
Will there be website restrictions if I use CMS?
Content management system breaks up the presentation and content by using templates. There are systems that restrict templating. But others don’t offer restrictions. There are also systems that impose restrictions on how the site is hosted. So when looking for a CMS, consider asking the supplier about the restrictions of the system.
Can I use my existing data base?
In choosing for CMS service, be sure that the system can be easily linked to your existing database. This makes working easier. Most websites have data stored in their own databases. Easy linking of the existing database with the system is a big relief for work.
